Despite not showing any symptoms of COVID-19, he was advised by health officials at the airport to go straight home and self-quarantine for 14 days. On Sunday night he developed a sore throat and then a cough. After resulting positive to the test, he and his family members were transported to the hospital with separate ambulances. Fiji Airways was practicing safe distancing by spacing out the 26 other passengers, who are now in self-quarantine. The airline had already announced they were cutting their international flights by 95%. After nearly 2 months, Wuhan (the epicenter of the pandemic in China) announced today that it would be loosening the lockdown by gradually resuming public transportation and allowing healthy people to go back to work. [source]
China had put Wuhan and other cities into lockdown on Jan. 23 when a total of 25 deaths had been reported in the country. After about 3 weeks of lockdown, the number of new deaths reached its peak in China [see graphs] and then began declining.
